Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, quiet town. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't heard of it often confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often referenced, however her brief time in the city did not last long. Brugel became a young woman living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be an actor, however, after a rapid growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts at that point, I gave up. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was the guidance by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to take the step she needed. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the school's annual production. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been featured on both the small and big screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her role as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale, a series that was produced over the course of ten years.
